Her goal is to provide the client relief and support through relaxation and rejuvenation.

She enjoys many things including gardening, baking, fostering dogs with a local rescue group, volunteering at her local school, and spending time with her family.

What is a Trigger Point and How Can Massage Help?

A trigger point or muscle knot is a point in our muscles that feels sore or painful. They are very sensitive because they can refer to pain to a different part of your body if they experience pressure. A study by the international scholarly research suggests that the affected muscles’ range of motion is usually decreased. We can experience trigger points anywhere in our bodies. Any muscle tissue may have a small area of tension, which could be a trigger point. Some common areas where we can have trigger points include calf muscles, hamstrings, in the neck, lower back, or along with the iliotibial band. Excessive presence of trigger points leads to chronic pain or myofascial pain syndrome. We can get many trigger points as a result of continual muscle stretch or acute muscle injury.

There are a few techniques we can use to decrease pain from a Trigger Point. They include spray and stretch, chiropractic adjustments, injections, massage, and more.

Trigger point massage is part of trigger point therapy. A 2015 study by the American Academy of physical medicine and rehabilitation so that trigger point therapy can help with trigger points. Some common physical therapy treatments include:

  • Exercise to help change how your body moves and poor postures

  • Therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation

  • Massage

  • Dry needling.

It is essential to find a massage near me therapist for trigger point massage therapy. Your massage therapist at Next Generation Chiropractic & Wellness will press and hold the trigger points in your muscles as part of the massage. The massage action will cut off circulation to the tissue temporarily. This causes the release of a chemical known as nitric oxide. Nitric oxide triggers our bodies to open microcapillaries and increase the flow of blood and reduce pain.
